Blog post from Fiverr CEO, Micha Kaufman:

In the nearly seven years since Fiverr was launched, we’ve built something special: A community of millions spread across 190 different countries, posting over 10 million Gigs, and buying over 30 million services.

We’ve taken great pride in helping talented people find an outlet for their skills and create personal brands. We’ve helped entrepreneurs build small businesses from nothing, democratizing services that never would have previously been available to so many. And we’ve given countless freelancers the opportunity to pursue their real passions and create a life they want rather than the one their demographic, geographic, or social standing would traditionally dictate.

If you think I sound like a proud parent, you’re right. In fact, I’d often find myself half-jokingly looking up what to expect from a 4, 5, and 6-year-old each of the last few years. So, what should we expect from a 7-year-old?

According to our friends at BabyCenter, “Sevens are delightful to be around. They’ve shed a bit more of the neediness and uncertainty of younger years, and bring enthusiasm and curiosity to everything they do. Sevens tend to ask lots of questions, because they’re keen observers with a big need to know about everything.”

After 10 million Gigs and 30 million transactions, I’d say we’ve shed much of our uncertainty, but our enthusiasm has only grown. We’ve asked a lot of questions, and we know quite a bit about the world the Fiverr community lives in.

It’s a world where all of us are asked to do more with less, working longer hours with more competition for the same opportunity. It’s one that asks each of us to do whatever it takes, because that’s exactly what our businesses need to succeed. We call it the age of the lean entrepreneur.

We’re the ones who get it done. It’s that emotion and identity that’s given us the inspiration behind “In Doers We Trust.” Not only is it a true embodiment of the Fiverr ethos, community, and brand, it’s at the core of what makes so many beyond just our community tick, and I’m excited to share it with all of you.

Doer.

It’s a label that few of us have ever given ourselves, but it expresses so much about what we stand for. It’s a role we should claim proudly, and that includes celebrating the ideals of lean entrepreneurship in both real and digital communities beyond our own. From social hubs like YouTube and Facebook to mass transit commutes in some of the U.S.’s biggest cities, we will salute the attitude and impact doers, freelancers, creators and makers have on the world. Anyone engaging with Fiverr will feel a renewed focus and connection to these ideals, starting here.

Have a look. Poke around. Stand up and be counted. Throw feedback our way. We’ll be listening.

We know success is earned not through talk, but through action, so we created a community of people specializing in getting things done. We believe everyone has a right to succeed, so our marketplace is open and accessible to anyone. We believe in trust and quality, so we built a safe and intuitive product for the passionate people and businesses who strive to be the very best.

We know that doers are at their best when they’re doing, so Fiverr’s experience allows creativity and productivity to grow for freelancers and entrepreneurs, both on the marketplace and in the cities you call home.

My commitment to all of you is to continue building a marketplace that will enable lean entrepreneurship so that all of you, and anyone else who is willing to pour sweat and tears into their work, can thrive in this new economy.

But it’s a two-way street. As a community, don’t ever stop pushing, growing, and evolving. Keep hustling and keep grinding each day to make it more productive than the last.

Simply put:

Wake up every day to get shit done.

We’ll help you do it.

Ask Mischa when he’s going to do that Q&A he promised us a few Christmasses ago, will you? It was the last time Fiverr did a Breast Cancer charity drive and had that NY HQ party.

This seems like a good place to start!

Throw feedback our way. We’ll be listening.

Shall we start with the app glitch randomly throwing 4.7 reviews from to sellers and not being able to easily fix this? Is a patch in the works? The recent changes to the feedback system have made this glitch quite a bit more urgent, and I am sure add to an already overworked CS team.

Fiverr’s experience allows creativity and productivity to grow for freelancers and entrepreneurs

I am sure you will agree that this particular quote does not apply when having to deal with the above issue.

Wake up every day to get shit done.

See, I knew it was OK to use the word shit on the forum.

What do you want to DO this year?

Make my existence slightly less precarious, with or without the help of Fiverr. This is a bit like the Queen’s speech, only with extra corporate ‘come on team, we can do it!’ and that nice little ad spot.

@mjensen415–the banner thing is cool, but it’s a little ugly with the scrolling bar and different color. You should get Discourse to make it more web 2.0 and shit hot.

That’s Great. And what i want to do this year? Yes i want to improve my gigs in search results. As before i go on vocations few month ago my trifold gig was in first page by typing word “tri fold” but now its gone, even i tried trifold and tri fold with space. Also i noticed that there are only 3 pages with these key words. few month ago there were too many pages and i was on the first page. It shocking for me that what happened with all other trifold gigs including me that have this key work. Should i add another trifold gig. My gig are not getting any clicks by the way or very low.

So the hype’s all about SELLER promotion…

Sounds good and all… but…

NOW do we get seller PROTECTION?

no point just DOing and getting 💩

NOW do we get seller PROTECTION?

I’m sure someone will be along to say #fookit but in more measured and careful language that takes great care not to sound like a no.

Surely this video breaks several forum rules?

I’m playing the forum admin card on this one since it’s an official Fiverr campaign and video. 🙂

Funny, I remember an argument last week all about

mod bias

and how it doesn’t exist 😉

It’s certainly attention-grabbing!

Hope it brings lots of new business to the site! I’ll be busy #Doing in the meantime. Looking forward to a great year with everyone else on here! 🙂

New Business? More like division of it. Have you read my posts above?

This campaign is targeted for NEW SELLERS.

@emmaki go to 46 seconds in the video and see if you notice something.

VR headset wearing Segway riders? That seems like a recipe for disaster, but not before you’ve had a cool and funky virtual experience and mown down several n00bs who aren’t hitting all the right millennial notes. After all, #fookit, there’s shit to be done!

Respectfully, I actually think it’s targeted at both, and primarily at buyers.

The spot mainly seems to focus on small business owners who need services (logos, videos, etc.) and don’t have a lot of time or capital. Fiverr is perfect for buyers like that. And this campaign appears to target them.

I’m sure it will inspire lots of new people to start selling as well. That’s fine, as far as I’m concerned. We should always expect competition. It’s up to each of us to keep offering great services and to overcome challenges.

There will always be annoyances, but I think Fiverr’s pretty great. I hope this campaign will help it keep growing. That’s all. 🙂

I love the ad! Very hip and audacious. I am proud to be a part of the community. I think it is really what you make of it. I am not sure I enjoy the idea of lean entrepreneurship. If I did not work a full time Job, it would be a truly lean existence trying to just freelance.

This video seems aimed at buyers. People looking to get sh*it. done with no corporate red tape, on their own terms, and at an affordable cost. In other words, Fiverr is placing itself as brand that disrupts the old school mentality. It is exciting to be a part of. Maybe when I tell people I freelance on Fiverr, they will know what I am talking about. Those are my thoughts.

Interested to see where it goes. I know the good folks behind the scenes worked hard for months to get this sh*t done! Great work guys and gals.

Surely this video breaks several forum rules?

I’m playing the forum admin card on this one since it’s an official Fiverr campaign and video. 🙂

The YouTube comments section is an amazing dumpster fire.

One top comment reads:

Horrible concept! Drug use, porn and swearing do not make a decent promo unless your a drug dealer, prostitute or truck driver

With this response:

Gotta agree with you guys on this one. As a super seller who has willingly allowed my face and name to be put out there to personally promote the platform, this promo is upsetting. It’s not inline with what I’ve seen from Fiverr for the 4 years I’ve been selling. Here’s hoping that they realize this was a mistake and steer themselves away from this type of marketing in the future.

Someone thinks this ad is racist:

The only person or “slight color” in this video is hitting a bong and everyone else is white! Poor form Fiverr

It’s not all negative, though.

I love it! I’ve been considering doing some R or X rated marketing but didn’t know how Fiverr would react to my ideas. Now I see we’re all on the same page. Sometimes you have to break your prospects pattern of thinking…I think Tony Robbins calls it “pattern interrupt”…I’ve used attention getting ideas like this in the past and it works. Is it appropriate for every business?..uh NO! but those businesses won’t use your product and the business owners that want creativity and are willing to take a risk WILL contact you. Look for a new gig R rated gig soon at www.Fiverr.com/***** Good job Fiverr! Now, if we can figure out a way to allow buyers to contact us on s***e or by phone without jumping thru all the TOS BS (aka start trusting and rewarding loyal sellers) then Fiverr will be even better!!!

Naturally, he will now make his R/X rated gig and fall foul of TOS. After all, he doesn’t have any particular cards to play, and has been seduced by marketing:

Oh, and all the meksells. So many meksells.
