I have started to receive a lot of spam as well or messages trying to get me to refer them to my customers. I just report all the messages and for most of them fiverr closes those accounts down.

It works but it’s not instant. Report and get on with your usual tasks. If you get more spam, report again. Otherwise, ignore it.
