Where exactly do you promote your gigs other than social media?

What are some websites where I can promote my gigs in a constructive way?

For example, if someone reports an issue on WordPress website on xyz forum, how do I convince him to buy my gig?

I do it on forums. I register on small forums around the world. I help the people there with tips, advice, articles, information. Then they thank me by supporting me and doing some PR for me. I don’t even ask them. Often they do it because they like me.
