Buyer places an order but does not include Broadcast rights

How do you handle it when a buyer places an order for a testimonial but does not include the broadcast rights? At a testimonial it is almost certain to be used in a broadcast and chances are once I record it I’ll never know.

A testimonial? I know that in the spokesperson category, testimonials posing as a customer, medical expert, nutritionist, etc. are clearly prohibited. I do VO as well, but place my own restriction against testimonial script content.

If it is quite clear that an order “should” include commercial or full broadcast rights, maybe a gentle reminder about it being required might be sufficient. If that is not heeded, then perhaps an escalation to CS is warranted, but that might result in a negative review as backlash.

I purposefully avoid the hubbub of commercial and full broadcast rights and just include it with VO purchases and only list it on my gigs for the Fiverr search engine, but realize that is not a feasible option for many other voice artists.
