Difference between illustration and visualisation

Hey,
I have a design question.
Is there a difference for you between illustrating text and visualising information?

For me, there is a huge difference, but I don’t manage to convey that to my designers.
I’d like to make an infographic instead of a long text in order to make it easier for the readers (viewers) of the information. Instead of reading a long text they should grasp it faster by following the infographic.

Illustrating text makes it nice to look, but it’s not easier to read it nor faster.
Visualisation of information is much harder to do, but when it’s done you can understand the information much faster without reading a long text.

well, it depends. im a 3D artists and vfx supervisor since 2002. and yes, there is a difference. its actually based on a clients requirement.some might like it simple. some might like it abstract and kind of get to the - idea kind of way.
