Excited to be here, looking for advice

Hello everyone as the title says I’m very excited to be here and also ready to see whats ahead
A little about me, I’m a gardener, avid hiker, fisherman, and all around nature lover. I grow a large variety of plants, my favorite being trees, they start so small and can become towering works of natural art. We can’t look past the things we do to harm our planet daily, we need to be proactive in rebuilding and maintaining our local wooded areas, and one day the not so local ones.

And what I’m doing here:

I will plant a tree seed and tag the ground in front of it with a biodegradable ground tag with your name(or message if preferred)

Do you ever tell yourself that you want to do something for the environment? But you’re unsure of how you can help, or what you can do to make a change. Well you’ve come to the right place! Together we can make a difference, planting just one tree does so much. Not only providing home and shelter for wildlife, they provide us with our oxygen, a necessary factor for life, and so much more. Take the step and say "I’ve done something Green today!"
All it takes is a desire to keep our Mother Earth a hospitable place.

The advice I’m looking for is, how to get noticed and perhaps how to start to actually get some sales.
Your opinion matters to me, let me know your thoughts please.
Thanks for stopping by.

Dear Dee VII:

What name do you like to be called? Your customers want to know what to call you.

I took a quick look at your profile:

Your profile image: Should be a color photo of your smiling face.
Your log line: No comment.
Your profile text – note the edits:

I grow and rescue trees for the use of bonsai. The feeling of creating beauty with nature is wonderful. I love growing all sorts of plants and its the best way to make sure our beautiful mother earth will be able to take care of future generations. -Dee VII [or whatever name Buyers should call you]

All your gigs should have video, 3 images, 2 pdfs (for more samples and your business policies), and so on…

Make a video of yourself talking to the camera, because this approach garners IMMEDIATE RESULTS. Include additional samples in the video!

The obvious delivery for this gig is the video of you planting the tree, edited down to 30 to 60 seconds. Bonus points if you wear a loincloth and have choreography.

For promotion, you can dedicate some trees to some famous people who are alive and active on Twitter. Post the video of you dedicating the tree to whomever on YouTube, Tweet about it, post it on Facebook, Google+, Chum Hum, wherever you can find people who want trees planted in their names. Best of all, you may be able to write these trees off as business expenses. Consult your financial expert for more on this.

There are a wealth of informative links below that can help you get noticed in a good way if you study the ideas and put them into action.

For example, the text of your gig description should be broken up to make it more readable.

Good luck,
Blaise

Thanks for your time. I’ve changed a few of the things you’ve stated above to better improve the quality of my gig, which I hope reads better now.

Any other opinions are greatly appreciated.

Hello deevii and welcome.

That’s a nice gig. I looked at your profile and gig to see if I can offer any more insights not already in Blaise’s reply.

I think especially with a gig like yours even more than the usual gigs here you need to convince your potential buyers that you’re legit.

Your gig says ‘I will plant a tree seed local to the area where I live’. That’s too unspecific, I think. The geographic tag on your profile says United States. I’m pretty sure the trees considered local in Alaska will differ from those considered local in Mississippi or in Texas. I’d be more specific with the region and the kind of trees. If you’re not, people may be distrustful.

Your tag says United States but the only language you chose to show on your profile says English, basic. If you’re from the US and only speak English, people will wonder why you don’t speak it on a native level or at least fluent. You should change that, unless your English skills actually are only basic, but in that case you should add your native language for more credibility, I think.

The first line in your profile description:

’ I grow and rescue trees for the use of bonsai. '

I know what bonsai are but I can’t for the life of me figure out what this sentence is supposed to tell me, I suppose I’m not the only one, maybe word what you want to say with that a bit different, so it’s clear what you want to convey with that.

You say the buyer gets a video as proof of purchase, maybe be a bit more specific there too, a video of what exactly.

That’s all I got. Good luck! 🍀

  • 2 weeks later...

My husband has been “making” bonsai for several years - sometimes from seedlings, but most of them from stumps or almost dead trees, or trees that were recently cut. I do understand what you mean, but most would not. You may want to explain that a bit better. 🙂

Also, I don’t know how well your gig will sell, but have you thought of offering other gigs? For example, offering a pic of one of your finished or “in process” bonsai for their facebook, pinterest, instagram, etc., with their website, logo, words, etc. You could post 2 or 3 pics, and they could choose from them, or you could offer others. You could charge more for commercial use or grant them commercial use with the original gig. Just throwing out some ideas - I am not a seller, so don’t really know the ins and outs…

Bonsai is fascinating, and most people don’t see the bonsai In process. Even those pictures would be great and unusual for buyers to use…

Just some thoughts!! 🙂
