How do I get my first customer or sale?

I haven’t got any customers yet and I have a lot of services to offer.
I would like some advice on how to get customers.
When I go to buyer requests I never contact the buyer, I only make an offer. Should I continue only with offers or should I contact the buyer aswell for a chance to get a customer and show them my abilities?
