How important it is to select the right category for your niche gig?

I was just going through some gigs in my own field and I noticed that what category a gig is placed in affects its sales a lot. For instance, a gig along the lines of “I will design a website landing page” when placed in “Programming and Tech” earns around 100-200 reviews at most. But similar sounding gigs in the “Graphics and Design” area earned well over 1k reviews. What’s the thing at play here? Are buyers looking for landing pages more likely to search the “Graphics and Design” section?
