For sellers who need more time:

"If you have an issue with an order, you can use the Resolution Center to assist you. We recommend using the Resolution Center to work things out with your buyer before contacting Customer Support.

To access the Resolution Center:
Once logged in, within an order, click Resolve Now.
Select the issue you are having with this order and click Continue.
Select how you would like to resolve the issue.
The following choices are available:

  • Mutual Cancellation: You can ask your buyer to cancel the order. Explain why you would like to cancel this order.
    - Extend Delivery: You can extend the delivery time. Select the number of days you would like to add to your delivery time and explain why.

Note: You can offer an extended delivery time only once per order.""

Then it’s up to you if you want to cancel the order or extend the delivery time, the seller needs to send an extension request through the Resolution Center like @fonthaunt explained.

Hi there, can I open a request to extend the delivery time as I wasn’t able to complete the order on time because of xyz?I’d be grateful.

This is a simple approach that would work, you’re not forcing the buyer into accepting something and also remain friendly without getting awkward for the buyer.

Hope it helps.

The advantage of plan A is that You can get even more days for the project.

The disadvantage of your plan A is that it’s a violation of Fiverr’s Terms of Service. Repeat offenders can get banned.

Not repeatedly trying with the same buyer. Doing it once with a buyer A, then with the buyer D, then with the buyer X… Might lead to account suspension. Because you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place, since it’s a ToS violation.

After taking extra time, is it show on profile, like delay or something?

If you use the Resolution Center to extend the delivery time, it doesn’t show up anywhere that can be seen by another but you and the buyer. It just literally extends the clock.

Yes & that is why every seller should use the resolution center and be careful not to violate the terms of services. Thanks @catwriter for the further clarifications. 🙂
