How to tell if paypal account is already taken?

Hello,
i had an old account just for buying purposes.
i opened a new account as a seller (because you can’t change your name on fiverr).
before i actually do anything i’d like to know if my paypal account is taken by the old (and now closed) account…
any ideas on how to find out? (again, the old account was just for buying purposes)

also, my phone number is also taken by the old account and i’d like to disassociate them (so i’ll be able to use it on my new account).

any help would be appreciated.
