How to work with non-responsive buyers?

They filled the requirements - I’ve sent them the draft images I made. Now I really need their approval before I continue working on these illustrations. But buyers don’t care about it, they just ignore my messages.

I can easily finish these artworks, since I have enough information, but you know - it’s better to be sure that buyer likes the initial sketch, in this way I avoid endless revisions and troubles with the deliveries. I warned them about my working process, I told them exact dates when I am going to contact them with the first drafts. But they are silent.

I hope CS message will somehow “wake them up”.

You can always send something that is very obviously horrible and see if they respond to that

Or make a big sign that says something like

YOU NEED TO LOOK AT THIS AND RESPOND! and send it to them.

Yes. I find if I request a cancellation via the Resolution Center, THEN they respond. If they don’t, it will cancel automatically after a few days and you are better off that way.

UPD: one of the buyers replied! They told me that they didn’t get any notifications until now (I’ve sent the update on 20th of September). Not sure on which side the problem was, but I am supper happy with communication been fine again.

Also, thank you for the Resolution Center trick! I think it was the notification that drew customer’s attention.

Thank you all for the information about the Resolution Center! This is pure gold.

I’m having my first orders these days and I just came across a non-responsive buyer. I delivered the order and she asked for a revision but didn’t tell me what she needs changed and the time is ticking. She hasn’t been online at all for a day now but I’m hopeful she’ll log in soon. Eitherwise, I’ll use the Resolution Center to ask for more time.

I received a message from a client in relation to a gig I posted but the client has not made an order yet, can proceed to the work

I advise you shouldn’t. If they don’t send any order or approve yours, your time will be wasted.

I think this is happening more often now. Do tell what the CS tells please.

Fiverr strongly recommends never to start working until the order is placed. If you do start working anyway, you should know that there’s no guarantee that you will get paid for that.

Same here! I have a pending order from a year ago and I really don’t know what to do! I messaged the guy I think 3 times and would love to go ahead and do it but no idea how…

If you mean the requirements section was never filled in then after a year it’s best not to do it.

I have a similar problem.
The buyer placed an order, we talked, and I started.
After I gave him work options, one of which needs to be confirmed in order to deliver the necessary files, he is silent. It remains 6 hours before the deadline, I made a request to increase the delivery time, because I don’t know which option it is worth working to the finish line. But he was still silent and did not confirm the request for adding time, although the buyer appeared online.

You need to deliver something. Don’t wait.

You guys are too dependent on responses. To wait until a few hours before your deadline waiting for a buyer to respond, something about how you are doing your business needs to change.

Why not deliver something to the best of your ability in keeping with what your gig offers, whether they respond or not?

It’s all great, but if the gig includes three options to choose from, what should I do?

But this will probably have to be done.

Wow, dead topic been resurrected!

I had non-responsive buyers quite often and I use the same scheme for each and every one of them: multiple reminders, help of CS, warnings (if you don’t approve the draft, I will proceed with the artwork as it is and you will lose all your revisions) and delivery. Thanks God, 99% of buyers appeared in time.

Yes, I had a similar one, but the buyer responded
This time, I probably have to deliver one of three options for my choice.

Don’t give them 3 options since they don’t respond.

Here is your gig description:

Initially, I create one, two or three (see Packages above) logo design concepts for your request. Then we refine the selected design according to the changes, if necessary. I will make sure that the end result meets your expectations.

So for example if they chose the 3 option package give them 3 options in the delivery.

You need to remove that entire paragraph. Just send them 3 designs in the delivery. You cannot try to depend on them responding to you and then be put in this position when they do not respond.

Ok, that looks reasonable. But then he will get three logos for the price of one

You have nice high prices and would have done the 3 options anyway right? Your gig seems to be offering 3 logos.

You can send a message with the delivery that they can choose one to have further changes on. I’m not sure what you can do exactly but put on your thinking cap so you won’t be waiting on them until the deadline.
