I have not been able to make sales from the buyer request page

Hi all,
I became a seller on Fiverr since September 2016. I have written over 160 proposals and I have gotten just one order. I know that I am doing something wrongly but I have not been able to pinpoint it.
I also need someone to look into my profile and gigs. Someone who will point out the things I am doing wrong.

You’re not doing anything wrong from what I can tell. The thing with Buyer’s Requests is that not all requests are written by potential buyers but sellers advertising their services in a way to like a job offer. Why this is still possible is beyond me.

Also keep in my mind that the fiverr marketplace is more crowded than ever with sellers looking to generate income. You have to do your best to stand out from the crowd. Even with that said, you can’t get every buyer to buy from you as they have their own ideals about ordering from people.

To bring some attention to your gigs, you can try to advertise your fiverr link on some social sites like twitter or Google+. Try exploring some Fiverrcast episodes for guidance; Episode 6 is a good start for getting insights on promoting outside of fiverr.

It is a numbers game. Keep posting. The more sales you get, the better your gigs and profile, the more attractive you become when submitting to buyer request. If you want to see it from the other side, place a request as a buyer. Watch what happens.

Dear Okwukweka:

What name do you like to be called? Your customers want to know what to call you.

I took a quick look at your profile:

Your profile image: I suggest a color photo of you, smiling
Your log line: I suggest revising this – no specific suggestions.
Your profile text:

Thanks for checking me out. I am exceptionally skilled as a freelance animator, professional transcriber, and data entry specialist. I am looking forward to being of warming service to you. Order any of my gigs right now and be assured of the best service available on Fiverr.

My take on your gig description and your collection of gigs is that your gigs are not complementary. It’s a big leap from animation to transcription to data entry. I suggest you check out the TOP SECRET Tips and Tricks below, especially the one about being new and needing sales…

Please note I corrected some grammar errors in your profile text. I have no idea of what “warming service” is, but it seems weird to me. If you’re to offer your services as a proofreader, ALL your copy must be beyond reproach.

Because you are focused on Buyer Requests, I suggest you create a “Fulfill Your Buyer Request” gig. That gig should feature video of you talking directly to the customer. Your focus should be on getting Buyers to feel they know, like, and trust you. Hire a copy writer for that gig.

All your gigs should have video and 3 images, and so on…

Good luck,

Be sure to make use of Tools like the Fiverr Blog, Fiverr Academy, and Fiverrcast.

If you take the time to earn your Autobiographer Badge, particularly adding a link to your Fiverr profile, other forum participants will be able to easily view your information.

As a general rule, when I have time to participate in the Fiverr Forum and I notice a request like yours in the “Improve My Gig” section, I am willing and able to look at a Seller’s Profile and one gig one time.

I can give you a better level of assistance if you first work your way through the checklist below. That way, I won’t waste your one turn by advising you to follow items on the checklist.

I love the review critique you have done on my profile and gigs. I will work on the things you have pointed out.
Can I send you a message sometime?

You didn’t specify which or what you bid on - you have several non-related gigs.

I noticed that your whiteboard animation starting price is quite high for someone with no reviews. Don’t get me wrong, you should price it for whatever you feel your talent is worth, however, keep in mind that there are quite a bit of competition on Fiverr. There are many who may be just as talented as you.

Your writing gig had some errors. I am nowhere near being a perfectionist when it comes to writing, therefore, I hired many - many talented proofreaders/editors to fix my work. If I am going to give someone $$$ to fix my writing, I want to know they have flawless writing skills.

I am curious to know which talented artist/cartoonist drew your avatar? Did you hire him/her on Fiverr? My logo is very generic and I am looking for someone to draw me.

Thank you for reviewing my gig.
I will look into the pricing issue on my whiteboard animation gig since, like you rightly suggested, I am just starting out. (By the way, what do you think of the video on that gig?)
The avatar I am using was something I got off the net.
Someone suggested that I replace that with my picture.
I guess you can get some drawn by a seller on fiverr.
Thank you once again for reviewing.

I have had some work done by a talented artist, I can share the name with you if you send me a forum message.

I think you are doing well, you might not have the orders and numbers you want, but looking at your profile it seems to me you are on the way. I would recommend keep updating your gigs (keep an eye on your prices, services market and competitors), keep on track with orders and try to go above and beyond the scope as to obtain a good rating, a good rating will go far here.

Regarding buyer requests, did you send out personalized responses and what sort of responses did you get back?

Keep up the good work, and in a few months I am sure you will have multiplied your current workload.

Good luck

Dear Okwukweka:

I hate receiving messages!

I’m totally not a people person, and besides, my theory is that if I offer feedback openly via the Forum, that MAY be helpful to more people than a private message.

So, it would be better to re-frame your question not as CAN you send me a message some time, but SHOULD you, and the answer to that is that it’s probably better to use the forum for that.

Good luck,

Thank you for your response.
Please I do not understand what you meant when you asked whether I sent out personalized responses and the replies I get. Can you elaborate this please?

Yes, when responding to a buyers’ request, would you type out a unique response for each Client based on their circumstances? What the buyer wants is key and you should be able to identify that from what you are told.

Yes, I send out a unique response to each request I am offering to handle.

That is all you can do. Keep in mind that the buyer will be seeing lots of sellers responses. So you need to try catch their attention and draw them in. Try explain the process and steps towards completion as to give them an idea of what will happen, how and when.

I personally sent nearly 150 requests, and I have only had success when I offered to do the jobs at a substantially low rate. I needed to do this to begin building reputation, I would recommend the same.

Thanks a lot. I have sent 154 offers in all.
