I dunno, he gets all the blame when they don’t win despite the fact that its been shown Higuain has missed key chances in every one of the Finals they have competed in.
I think Messi may have been affected by the fact that his idol, Maradona, said that the team should not bother coming home if they don’t win. IMO Maradona was selfishly piling on the pressure for Messi because if Messi delivered an international trophy he would be hailed as better than Maradona.
Messi has achieved more than Maradona at club level but Maradona has the World Cup to hold over him.
