A buyer got in touch with me about helping them write a novel. My gig isn’t to write it for them but to ask questions and give some kind of guidance as to where the story could go. So I wrote back to them with the best questions and ideas I could come up with, given what they gave me…and she got back to me with, “Your questions are of no use to me.” So what do I do?

Get paid and move on. The type of service you offer is purely subjective and also easy for people to get your input and run. As long as you delivered you did your job. Tell her you are sorry she is unhappy and suggest she find someone who will better suit her needs.
